# Overview & Support

### Introduction

Radix is not your average Drupal theme. It is an advanced, complex, and cutting-edge solution designed for experienced Drupal developers who want to push the boundaries of theming. Radix aims to bridge the gap between Drupal theming and modern JavaScript ecosystem theming, providing a wealth of features and tools to create stunning and high-performance websites.

### Radix Theme

Radix Theme Radix has been at the forefront of component-driven theming since its inception in Drupal 7 when the concept was still in its early stages. With the introduction of [Single directory components](https://www.drupal.org/docs/develop/theming-drupal/using-single-directory-components) in Drupal core, Radix has evolved to leverage this powerful feature.

As the original component-based theme for Drupal, Radix comes packed with an impressive array of tools and technologies, including [Bootstrap 5](https://getbootstrap.com/), [Sass](https://sass-lang.com/), [BrowserSync](https://browsersync.io/), [BiomeJS](https://biomejs.dev/), [Laravel Mix](https://laravel-mix.com/). These tools work seamlessly together to provide a streamlined and efficient theming experience.

Radix is an opinionated theme, meaning it has a strong stance on how things should be done. Radix has proven its effectiveness over the years, serving as the foundation for numerous successful other starter themes and thousands of projects. If you have any concerns or suggestions, we encourage you to open an issue on [drupal.org issue queue](https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/radix) for constructive discussions.

With Radix `6.x` and Drupal `^10.1`, Radix now fully supports the core SDC and no longer requires the [components](https://www.drupal.org/project/components) module.

Additionally, Radix utilizes Drupal core’s process to create subthemes, ensuring a smooth and standardized workflow.

{% hint style="info" %}
It’s important to note that Radix itself is a **parent theme** and should not be used directly as the main theme for any website. Always create a subtheme based on Radix and customize it to suit your project’s specific requirements.
{% endhint %}
